Posted on: 05/30/2021

Since COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted at UMD, we have opened up the garden to volunteers! However, we are requiring that volunteers sign-up before attending the garden, as work hours are at different times than the usual Monday/Thursday 4-5 pm.

Please send us an email at umdlearninggarden@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer with us, and we will get you set up with our sign-up sheet!

Role of CLG during the Pandemic

When the pandemic began, the CLG committed to donating 100% of its harvests to the UMD Campus Pantry. The garden has already produced significant volumes of vegetables, fruits, and herbs for the Campus Pantry and will continue to do so through the duration of this difficult time.

The garden and its hard-working essential employees were featured in various news outlets for their contributions. They also highlighted the issue of food insecurity in our region.

COVID-19 Update

The garden is not currently open to the public, and work hours are cancelled until further notice.

Governor Larry Hogan's stay-at-home order for all residents of Maryland is in place.

During this time of uncertainty, the CLG is happy to be providing fresh produce to the Campus Pantry to feed those in need. To see our new harvests, check out our social media.
