Terraces
Situated alongside the hillside next to Eppley, our terraces provide more plots for growing produce! They used to be rented by members of the UMD community, but since the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been used by the CLG to grow food for the UMD Campus Pantry.
IAA Teaching Garden
In collaboration with the Institute of Applied Agriculture, we have five raised beds that grow a variety of vegetables, fruits, and flowers throughout the year. This is the main area where we bring groups to learn about growing food.
Pollinator Meadow
In Fall 2014, the Public Health Garden, Apiary Club, as well as many volunteers worked to create a meadow full of flowers for native pollinators. Located next to the Garden, this area ensures that butterflies and bees can continue helping our plants grow.
Orchard
We have a variety of fruit and nut trees outside of Eppley Recreational Center, as well as some fig trees on one side of the School of Public Health.
In addition, we have a variety of other projects that work to make our garden more sustainable, environmentally-friendly, and user-friendly! Check out our bee research, stormwater management, tea garden, and retaining walls!
